Kid Art: Jackson Pollock Style

Honestly, I never thought I would be able to apply my art history love to my life. And then…there was Sweetpea. My sweet baby girl just loves to be crafty…and yes, she does have a choice. She also loves to learn, thank goodness!! For our fun weekend craft project, I added a bit of learning to the lesson.

Together, Sweetpea and I looked at art from Jackson Pollock. We watched a video of how he created his art and she asked lots of questions from “what is that stick in his mouth?” to “why does he have paint on his shoes?” We selected one piece (Number 8) to print out and recreate.
A true artist cannot simply recreate a piece of art without inserting their own flair. SP’s flair included a lot of pink =)
We tapped our brush to create splatters….
We flicked the paint onto the canvas…. and then it got REAL messy, so mama had to put down the camera and assist….
The finished Jackson Pollock recreation is simply beautiful and I am VERY proud to frame it for our wall!
